The annual EYC Lights Parade has been held in the Annapolis Harbor for the past 23 years. Many thousands of people travel to Annapolis to watch the parade every year. Many bring horns and other noisemakers to give their stamp of approval to the hardy skippers and crews who brave the elements in December to put on the show.
In 2006 a crewman on one boat spent the entire two hours on the bow because with the decorations the helmsman could not see to navigate. The bowman had a radio for communication with the helmsman throughout the parade. He said he had never been so cold in his life and didn't think he would ever stop shivering.
This year I was on one of EYC's Hospitality Boats. This gave me a great position for photography.
Links to previous years Lights Parade photos are at the bottom of the page.
Enjoy the photos and hope to see you next year. Happy Holidays!
That's all for this year. I hope you enjoyed the show and all the hard work the owners and crews (along with the many volunteers from EYC) put in to make this a huge success.
I tried to get photos of the crews this year. When possible, they are attached to the photos of their boats. Of course the parade is a family affair. Children love to go on the boats.
The US Naval Academy had two boats in the parade this year. The Blue Angels F18 was a big hit.
Ahh the shamrock, I wonder what they are drinking, Irish coffee perhaps.
How true, it is 5 O'clock somewhere and time for a Margarita.
Imagine the work to put this together.
The Sea Gypsy was loaded with people celebrating the season.
The 3 Amigos want a bigger boat. May you get your wish.
Every part of this boat was decorated, bow stern, bridge, and deck.
Santa and carolers
Santa, a hula dancer, and a drink under a palm tree. What more could you ask for?
Tropical themes were popular this year
Small boats, tug boats, everything goes
You have to have a train for Christmas
And toys that I believe are donated after the parade.
Look carefully, Santa is standing in a rubber dinghy

The 2007 Parade of Lights, the 25th parade, sponsored by the Eastport Yacht Club, was on Saturday, December 8. It was a nice evening, temperature in the middle 30's, very light wind and no rain. Forty boats and crews turned out for the parade. We had a few new boats this year along with the long term participants. All were crowd pleasers. This is Annapolis at its best.
